Almighty Father,
I commend to your love my beloved (say their name)<\/em>
who has departed this life.
Receive them into you loving arms;
\u2013 please forgive anything that needs your forgiveness.
May they know your peace and your presence.
May they give you glory and live in your eternal light.

A reading from the Book of Wisdom 3:1-9<\/b>
\n\nThe souls of the virtuous are in the hands of God<\/i>
\n\nThe souls of the virtuous are in the hands of God,
\nno torment shall ever touch them.
\nIn the eyes of the unwise, they did appear to die,
\ntheir going looked like a disaster,
\ntheir leaving us, like annihilation;
\nbut they are in peace.
\nIf they experienced punishment as men see it,
\ntheir hope was rich with immortality;
\nslight was their affliction, great will their blessings be.
\nGod has put them to the test
\nand proved them worthy to be with him;
\nhe has tested them like gold in a furnace,
\nand accepted them as a holocaust.
\nWhen the time comes for his visitation they will shine out;
\nas sparks run through the stubble, so will they.
\nThey shall judge nations, rule over peoples,
\nand the Lord will be their king for ever.
\nThey who trust in him will understand the truth,
\nthose who are faithful will live with him in love;
\nfor grace and mercy await those he has chosen.\n\n\n\n
\nThe Lord is my shepherd;
\nthere is nothing I shall want.
\nFresh and green are the pastures
\nwhere he gives me repose.
\nNear restful waters he leads me,
\nto revive my drooping spirit.
\n\nHe guides me along the right path;
\nhe is true to his name.
\nIf I should walk in the valley of darkness
\nno evil would I fear.
\nYou are there with your crook and your staff;
\nwith these you give me comfort.
\n\nYou have prepared a banquet for me
\nin the sight of my foes.
\nMy head you have anointed with oil;
\nmy cup is overflowing.
\n\nSurely goodness and kindness shall follow me

\nIn the Lord\u2019s own house shall I dwell
\nfor ever and ever.

Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord,
Lord, hear my voice!
O let your ears be attentive
to the voice of my pleading.
If you, O Lord, should mark our guilt,
Lord, who would survive?
But with you is found forgiveness:
for this we revere you.
My soul is waiting for the Lord.
I count on his word.
My soul is longing for the Lord
more than watchman for daybreak.
(Let the watchman count on daybreak
and Israel on the Lord.)
Because with the Lord there is mercy
and fullness of redemption,
Israel indeed he will redeem
from all its iniquity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\nThe dead and the living at the time of the Lord\u2019s coming<\/i>
\n\nWe want you to be quite certain, brothers, about those who have died, to make sure that you do not grieve about them, like the other people who have no hope. We believe that Jesus died and rose again, and that it will be the same for those who have died in Jesus: God will bring them with him. We can tell you this from the Lord’s own teaching, that any of us who are left alive until the Lord\u2019s coming will not have any advantage over those who have died. At the trumpet of God, the voice of the archangel will call out the command and the Lord himself will come down from heaven; those who have died in Christ will be the first to rise, and then those of us who are still alive will be taken up in the clouds, together with them, to meet the Lord in the air. So we shall stay with the Lord for ever. With such thoughts as these you should comfort one another.

A reading from Book of Revelation 7:9-12<\/b>
\n\nThe rewarding of the saints<\/i>
\n\nAfter that I saw a huge number, impossible to count, of people from every nation, race, tribe and language; they were standing in front of the throne and in front of the Lamb, dressed in white robes and holding palms in their hands. They shouted aloud, \u201cVictory to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!\u201d And all the angels who were standing in a circle around the throne, surrounding the elders and the four animals, prostrated themselves before the throne, and touched the ground with their foreheads, worshiping God with these words, \u201cAmen. Praise and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honour and power and strength to our God for ever and ever. Amen.\u201d\n\n\n\n
\nYou have hidden these things from the wise and revealed them to little children<\/i>
\n\nJesus exclaimed, \u201cI bless you, Father, Lord of heaven and of earth, for hiding these things from the learned and the clever and revealing them to mere children. Yes, Father, for that is what it pleased you to do. Everything has been entrusted to me by my Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father, just as no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.\n\u201cCome to me, all you who labour and are overburdened, and I will give you rest. Shoulder my yoke and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Yes, my yoke is easy and my burden light.\u201d

\nwe commend to your eternal love

\nEmbrace them, Lord,
\nand keep them safe in your care.
\nMay they know your divine light
\nand glorify you for all eternity.
